The SAPIO Research Institute is at the forefront of education and training by conducting unbiased research studies of this new way of learning, that is e-learning (e.g., see our copyrighted SAPIO Learning Model and demo). Additionally, as a service to the profession, we monitor the latest information and research in the field of e-learning, and share these resources with the community at no charge.
E-learning requires the use of a new paradigm, as advocated by
the
educational philosophy of Cognitive
Constructivism, and the application of advanced instructional
system design principles. Attempts
to replicate the classroom experience online or to infuse the
traditional classroom with the latest instructional technologies have
not and will not work.
The reasons are simple: the Internet is not a physical place, it is not
a textbook, it is not linear, and it is not static. Since the
technology enables the construction of flexible, dynamic, and rich
hypermedia learning environments, it should not be used to transfer
knowledge using the traditional classroom methods.
Conversely, the classroom is the ideal place to exchange
ideas,
allowing for a personal and non-mediated didactic and interaction among
the instructor and the learners. It is not suited for the extensive and
complex use of technologies, which very often distract and
interfere with the learning and instruction process.
